My Hometown: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

December is a great month to visit Ft. Lauderdale - especially for those snow birds.  The temperature rarely drops below 75 degrees and while the average day`s temperature is at least 80 degrees during this time of the year, there is a constant breeze and the humidity is much lower than the summer months. Beach weather in December is at its best!

For starters, I would recommend visiting the Las Olas area, where the patrons are very warm and friendly, which makes for a comfortable atmosphere.  Rent a sports car, and drive to one of my favorite restaurants, Mango`s.  Every night Mango`s has live music with different local bands performing weekly!  They specialize in several different American food items, including seafood prepared with mango flavoring and seasonings. Don`t go too far, because you will find some of the best spots to go dancing in the Las Olas area.  Many of the restaurants offer live music, such as Blues and Jazz.

Traveling with the whole family?  Reserve your Payless Ft. Lauderdale minivan or SUV now!  Check out the Museum of Art, Ft. Lauderdale - offering some of the finest art that will amaze everyone.   Sports fans will love the International Swimming Hall of Fame Museum and Aquatic Complex, located in the city`s first hotel on the banks of the New River.  The museum`s permanent collection and changing exhibits depict the 1870 to 1930 development of Fort Lauderdale.  On a budget?  Bring the entire family to the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, which features an exhibition hall, theater, and more than 85,000 books, documents, and artifacts that focus on the experiences of people of African descent, all at no cost!
